Sotheby's Impressionist and Modern Art auction, which took place last night, had a total sale of $368million - "making it the second-highest sale of Impressionist and Modern Art in the auction house's history," stated The New York Times. Topping that list is "L'allée Des Alyscamps" by Vincent van Gogh. Five bidders competed for the prominent artist's exquisite artwork, but it ultimately sold to a private Asian collector for $66.3million.
I envy that private Asian collector.
The second highest bid of the night was for Claude Monet's "Nymphéas", which sold for $54million.
